Happy Halloween!

my little guy, all ready for Halloween!

Happy Halloween, pumpkins! I hope you're all ready for trick-or-treaters or parties or whatever spooky fun you have planned. My adorable little pumpkin pictured above and I are planning on cuddling up with fuzzy blankets and watching scary movies while we wait for trick or treaters...or eat all the candy instead :)

Be safe and have a happy night!

Hey

Hey there, peeps! Long time, no see. I wish I had a better reason than "life is super busy" to explain my blogging absence, but I don't.

Life is super busy. Here's a quick look into a typical day...
7am-9:45ish: wake up, feed Oscarboy, shower, get ready for the day
10am-3pm: intern
3:30-4:30pm: eat quick dinner/snack, feed Oscar if he doesn't have food leftover from breakfast, change for work
5-10pm: work
10pm: eat dinner, play with Oscar to lessen my guilt of leaving him alone all day, do any household chores that need to be done
midnight-2am: relax and attempt to fall asleep to get a few hours of good sleep in before I wake up and do it all over again!

So there isn't a whole lot of free time in my schedule. I really miss blogging though, so I'm going to try and make it a bit more of a priority.

However, you can find me guest-posting on my friend Whitney's blog Sometimes Always Never today! Whitney is in Africa right now doing great things, and she was sweet enough to ask me if I'd guest-post for her one day while she's gone. Click over and read about my struggle trusting my gut :)

Have a good Monday y'all!

24.

It feels a little self-congratulatory to say this, but today is my 24th birthday. 24 is a weird age. In my mind, it seems like an age where you should have your shit together (for lack of a better phrase)...and I definitely do not. 23 was an okay year, so I'm hoping 24 is better.

As for celebration plans, I bought myself a mini cake at Publix and plan on eating some after I get home from work. Because that's what you do when you're 24--work on your birthday and do things like laundry and vacuuming. #adulthood

Going Nuts

I have a little bit of a weird relationship with nuts. Sometime I just cannot stand nuts in anything I'm eating and other times I can't get enough. I'm currently in a "can't get enough" phase and I'm kind of loving it. Walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts, macadamias...I need them all. They also have great health benefits so I guess my little obsession isn't too bad.

A few nutty recipes that I'm dying to try...

Pecan-crusted Chicken: Southern Living (you know it's going to be good)

Carrot Walnut Muffins: Live. Love. Learn. Eat (also vegan, if you're into that!)

Raw Almond Butter Cups: Oh She Glows (that picture is making my mouth water)

Chocolate-Almond Cake: Annie's Eats

Yum...I need some of these things in my life RIGHT now!

Feeling Fall

It's allergy season in Atlanta, I'm totally feeling it, and what's worse is that I'm totally looking it too. I've spent the past week in Benadryl-fueled sleep when not doing anything important (i.e. work, interning or shopping at Target) and my blogging inspiration is approximately zero.

So here's a few little pretty pictures from Pinterest to get you excited for fall...

Ready for colder weather yet? Mentally I am, but I need to get my fall wardrobe in gear!

Le Bebe

I think by now, we all know that I have a serious love for J. Crew and think they can do no wrong. They always have realistically attractive models, unique styling, great pieces...everything just works. I especially love how they make kids clothes essentially just scaled-down versions of their adult clothes, with a few added kid touches.

All of which is why I LOVE the new baby collection!!! So many cute little things, made in classic J. Crew fabrics and colors. I will add that I'm a total sucker for anything made in miniature, so baby clothes are always adorable just because of how tiny they are.

Footed Onesie

Cashmere Baby Blanket (I'll take this for myself, please and thank you...)

Baby tunics in Liberty prints!

A fox printed tunic? Adorable.

A tiny cashmere sweater!

This kitty sweater is too cute

You could give pretty much anything in the collection for a baby shower present and be the best gift giver. Everything is so much cuter and sweeter in tiny sizes, from pink polka-dotted socks to baby-sized moccasins...I just cannot wait until I know more people having babies so I can buy teensy little things!

Pumpkin Season

Rabbit, rabbit y'all! I cannot believe it's October already. October is one of my favorite months--it brings my birthday and Halloween (and all the associated candies), it's typically starting to get crisp and cool--to me, October is officially fall. It's a little weird to wear sweaters and boots and eat fall goodies like pumpkin bread in September, but October 1 officially kicks off Pumpkin Everything season in my mind.

I've never cared for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but I am SO ready for my first piece of pumpkin bread or pumpkin spice cake!!!!! #nomnomnom

To add even more excitement to this October, October 16 is the first birthday of What Kate Likes! So many things to look forward to! Happy October 1!
