What Kate Likes: Gorjana

I'm definitely not much of a jewelry person. I love jewelry that's delicate, understated and classic but it's really hard to find high-quality pieces that meet my aesthetic requirements.

All of these reasons are why I'm a huge Gorjana fan. Gorjana pieces are delicate, feminine, have a hint of edge and are easily mixed with other, larger pieces if that's your style or mixed with other Gorjana pieces. I love the tones of the gold as well--not too brassy, not too yellow, not overly shiny and fake looking. I have two tiny necklaces and they're truly my daily jewelry. I almost always have at least one on and it's just the right amount of shiny for me.

I was looking through the new arrivals the other day and there were so many beautiful pieces, I just had to share some of them with y'all.

Callie Bracelet (dying over this one...hint hint)

Morgan Mini Neon Triple Wrap (a perfect hint of neon without being obnoxious)

Sea Stripe Bangle (stripes on a bangle? I'm sold.)

Obviously I'm on a teensy bit of a bracelet kick...my wrists have been feeling naked recently and need a bit of shiny :) Gorjana also makes to-die-for handbags. I'm currently loving this tote, this crossbody, and this clutch! Such springy colors! The brand is also on Joss & Main right now, if you want to scoop up a deal!!

Friday's Fancies: Beach Trip!

Let's pretend we're taking a trip to the beach for a few days...here's a sampling of what I'd take!

For the beach: an easy cover up, a basic leather flipflop, a chic (and inexpensive!) swimsuit, and a bag that can get sandy. And while I didn't add it to my collage, this is my favorite sunscreen and a total beach essential!

I'd also pack this maxi, these shorts, this top, these sandals, and this leather tote! What would you bring?

Catching Up

So you've probably been wondering where I've been for the past few days. Honestly, I just wasn't feeling like blogging. I had other things going on and little blog posts just fell by the wayside. (Obviously my new editorial calendar is working out so well...)

Anyway. There's lots and lots and lotssss of sales going on right now and lots of good stuff! Here's a few things I'm loving/wanting/already have ordered...

The mocs and sneakers are on their way to me, and I seriously contemplate the bucket bag, loafers, jeans (a great basic pair for a steal!) and the striped top (of course)! And how very Kate Middleton is that coat? I have no idea when or how I'd wear it, but I love it.

I scooped up the polka dotted lingerie set after work the other day because I've been wanting it since it first came out...and since I found my size on sale, it was shopping fate! I debated over the little pup mug for pens for my desk, and I think I might have to pop in and grab it because of the cuteness factor. I might have to get another set of my beloved Latte bowls to replace a few that are looking a bit sad...hmm.

I haven't even looked at J. Crew yet...eek! So many good deals out there!!! What do you have your eye on? Any great sales I need to check out?

Friday's Fancies: Summer Wishlist!

Woohoo! Today is officially the first day of summer!!!! I love summer. Everyone gets more relaxed and happier in the summertime. Plus summer has all of my favorite things: lots of navy and white, strawberries, ice cream, sunshine, beach trips, suntans, freckles, the days stay lighter longer, seersucker...basically there's a lot I love about summer.

The theme for this week's Friday's Fancies is "Summer Wishlist" and I just have to tell y'all, I struggled with the theme. I'd like to say it's because I don't have any wants, but in all honesty, this blog kind of serves as my continual wishlist, so it's hard to narrow down all my wants to a short and sweet compilation of The Best without reposting items and being repetitive. That seems horribly materialistic...yikes. #champagneproblems, right?

Anyway, I decided to focus more on items that I've been looking for for ages and have finally found the perfect iteration that needs to be added to my closet ASAP.

1//2//3//4
5//6//7

1: sweetly sexy lingerie in the prettiest coral color
2: the perfect silk shirt
3: linen shorts that are both comfy and cute
4: a delicate sparkly bracelet that's neither too much nor too little
5: a summery floral dress that's easily dressed up or down
6: my ideal tan leather wedge from my favorite espadrille company
7: an almond toe, neutral version of my favorite espadrilles

Happy Summer!!

Resort '14: Daytime Looks, Part 1

Resort is my favorite "fashion season". Caught right in between real seasons, it's always a breath of fresh air, with bold and bright colors, fun patterns, relaxed silhouettes and a touch of glamour. Who wouldn't want to be the type of person who jets off to a seaside locale for a break in the middle of the winter?

Here's some of my favorite daytime looks from assorted Resort shows...

Check back tomorrow for more daytime looks, and in the meantime, see the full shows here, here, and here!

White Out

Lately I've found myself pinning and pining over more and more all-white or mostly white interiors and exteriors. I love color, but something about the simplicity and elegance of having a literal blank canvas is really appealing to me. All white can easily be blah and boring, but mixing textures, tones and tone-on-tone patterns can liven it up.

A few house crushes...

obsessed with those vanities and the rugs...! a true dream bathroom with all the marble

so cottagey and crisp

the dark, dark floors paired with the white walls is such a good contrast

all the tones are great...and I love the natural light!

more color than the others, but the white walls, ceiling, doors and moulding are what I have in my head when I imagine my "dream apartment"

As far as exteriors go, apparently white clapboard or stucco is the way to my heart...this, this, this, and this are all dreamy.

What do you think about an all-white apartment or house? Love it or not for you?

Also, I'm having a vaaague sense of deja vu, like I've already blogged about this, but I can't remember if I actually did or if I just did a draft that I never finished/posted...hmmmm

This, That or This Other?

I have a wedding coming up at the end of July and I am SO excited about it. So many friends that I haven't seen in agesssss will be there and it'll just be a blast. I'm having the hardest time deciding what to wear, though!!!

The wedding is cocktail attire, so naturally I turned to Rent The Runway. However, that wasn't the best decision for me because I narrowed it down to about 80 dresses...and unless I'm going to be making a few costume changes, that's not a feasible option.

So, since I've been blessed with such indecision, I need all of your opinions. I did manage to narrow my 80ish choices down to a more manageable 3...but can't decide between the 3, which is where you come in!

Thakoon In A Daisy dress: I love the unusual pattern, the intricate hemline, and the cut...but the open back makes me a little nervous.

Shoshanna Lace Ceclie dress: A totally different color and style for me and I hardly ever wear lace. It would be so gorgeous with gold accessories, but it might be too short...

DVF Mint in Manhattan dress: I haven't been able to get this dress out of my mind since I first saw it. It's so unusual but still fun. But how would you accessorize? Nude heels seem a bit blah, but nothing else would really go...

Or, just to throw a fourth option out there, should I wear a cocktail dress I already have and invest in some fun new accessories? Help!!

just to clarify, this is not a sponsored post :)

Wishlist: The J. Crew Edition

Uhhhh so it's really not much of an overstatement to say that I want pretty much everything J. Crew has on their site right now...I'm totally crushing on SO many things (mostly striped, it's a sickness). Take a little look at some of the items topping my wishlist right this second.

Chambray Dot Peasant Top: I will add this to my closet ASAP, don't think I won't. I just can't decide which color to get!!!

Polka Dot Linen Shorts: That color plus the polka dots? Obsessed.

Collection Bow Pumps: Y'all know how much I love a good stripe...these are such an obvious choice for me. I can't stop thinking about these little cuties.

Rope Trim Striped Jacket: I told you I had a outrageous amount of striped things on my list...this jacket is just one more. I love the crisp blue and white, the pop of orange, the boxy Chanel-esque shape...and of course that it's semi-Auburn colored...

Linen-Cotton Pant: Maybe not the cutest or chicest option out there, but for the sticky hot summers in Houston? These pants would be so practical and cool...in both the temperature sense and the effortlessly slouchy sense.

Boardwalk Linen Polka Dot Skirt: Probably the perfect summer skirt: not too terribly short, not too long, a breathable lightweight fabric, a fun cheery color, polka dots...paired with a white tee, sandals and sunglasses it'd be perfect for any occasion.

Things I'm also loving: these jeans, this tunic dress, this striped dress (I have a problem, I know), and these little striped shirts...mostly all on sale to boot!

Back in Business!

 via

So! Little computer is finally back from the repair shop and I'm back to blogging! It's so weird, when I was without a computer, I had all of these great ideas for posts and now that I have my computer back, I can't think of a single thing to post!!

However, I did break down and order a new MayBook solely dedicated to planning out my blog posts, so now I need to buckle down and start brainstorming post ideas, finish up the multiple drafts in my drafts folder, and schedule when/how everything will go live. I love organization, but I'm also hesitant that being so rigid might actually halt my creativity/inspiration...we will see!

What did I do on my "blogging vacation"? I worked a few days, did a lot of random errandy stuff, and started a new Pilates class! Nothing too exciting. I actually had my first Pilates class this morning and while I'm not exactly stiff or sore, I feel a little off...Pilates peeps, is this normal? Is it just part of getting used to all the intentional movements and way of breathing?

What have you been up to recently? I feel so out of the loop!!

Unintentional Vacation

I mentioned the last time I posted that my computer was having issues, but the other night I was just doing my usual stuff (blog reading, Pinterest scrolling, Twitter checking, etc) and my laptop just died. Like totally dead, no lights, power button wouldn't work.

So little laptop is in the shop getting a brand new DC jack (no idea what that is) and posting will be suuuuper light around here until it's fixed and back in my hot little hands. I wish I could say that I'm treating this as a technology break, and I'm kind of trying for it to be one, but not having full, easy access to the Internet is sending my anxiety levels through the roof. Add in the fact that I'm still carless after my accident and I'm basically a ball of neurotic anxiety right now.

Anyway, I'll be back ASAP!
